About 20 miles south of Dallas lies the town of Ferris, and according to city manager Brooks Williams, their little pocket of Texas is getting the Hollywood treatment thanks to fellow Texan and television extraordinaire Taylor Sheridan. Late last week, The Dallas Morning News reported a conversation with Williams in which they revealed that filming was underway at a Ferris ranch. On this ranch is a mansion, which Williams shared is likely going to depict a residence in the series. In addition to the ranch itself, filming was also taking place in downtown Ferris and on the outskirts of town, with Williams sharing that many properties in the area “have really unique landscapes and elevation changes.”
Rio Palo is just one of many Taylor Sheridan series to film across Texas, and despite the fact that some residents of Ferris may experience things like road closures or delays in their day-to-day commutes around the town, Williams sees this as a positive thing. “Those shows have done extremely well,” he said, referring to the other countless Taylor Sheridan series shot across Texas, such as Landman. Furthermore, he sees this as “an opportunity to memorialize us as a part of that.”
How does ‘Rio Palo’ fit into the ‘Yellowstone’ universe?
News of Rio Palo shocked fans, as among all of the confirmed and rumored shows to spawn from Yellowstone, Rio Palo was never revealed to be one of them. At this point, a handful of Yellowstone spinoffs have been confirmed. 6666 (pronounced as “four sixes”), will dive into the Texas ranch made famous in the original series. Y: Marshals will tell the story of Kayce Dutton as he joins the U.S. Marshals in Montana, “where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence,” reported Deadline. The Madison is another series spawned from the original Yellowstone and follows a family from New York who relocates to Montana.
Beloved Yellowstone couple Beth and Rip are also set to star in their own spinoff series. There’s also 1944, which will continue in the years after the events of 1923. While at this time little is known about Rio Palo, if Taylor Sheridan has anything to do with it, then rest assured that it’s sure to entertain.
