“Chicago Fire Season 14: Firehouse 51 in Crisis—Cast Shakeups and a Legacy Under Threat”

Now, in an interview with ScreenRant, Walker revealed he would be open to making another return to the One Chicago franchise in the future, even though Boden’s return was planned as a single episode. Walker discussed the family feel of the show and how he would jump at the chance to do more episodes if Boden was written into some. Check out Walker’s comments below:

Once a part of the family, always a part of the family. If they write another episode, I will come and do it. One of my favorite things about this place of work is they’re always there. They’re always there for each other. And we’ve held each other up over many, many years. And so yeah. Once a part of the family, always part of the family.

What This Means For Boden’s Chicago Fire Future

A Season 14 Renewal Means He Could Return In A Recurring Role

Boden’s return as Deputy Commissioner adds an entirely fresh dynamic to his role on the show, and this is something that could be explored to great effect in future episodes. His new role is bound to put him at odds with the other characters, especially with his successor, Chief Pascal. Chicago Fire season 14 hasn’t been officially renewed yet, though its odds are good. With only a few episodes of season 13 left, Boden’s investigation could have wide-reaching ramifications for Firehouse 51, perhaps even spilling over into the new season.

Our Take On Boden’s Chicago Fire Return

Boden Is Always An Engaging Presence On The Show

While it is important for Chicago Fire to be able to find life after Boden and to achieve success as a show now that Walker has left as a full-time cast member, having him return in a recurring capacity can only be a good thing. The character is so iconic within the franchise that he fits the series so well. Even with a change of role that puts him on a different team opposite those he worked shoulder-to-shoulder with, the show is still a better and more complete entity with Boden involved in it. Hopes will be high for his continued return.
