“Season X Episode Y: Rip Reins In The Dutton Ranch—Cole Hauser’s Wild Reentry Into Yellowstone’s Legacy”

Cole Hauser is set to star in a Yellowstone spinoff focused on Rip and Beth, but he’s doing another project that’s even more exciting.

Hauser has been a prominent part of Yellowstone’s cast since the beginning, bringing to life the most universally celebrated, fan-favorite character in the series: Rip Wheeler.

This makes it all the more exciting that, following Yellowstone’s ending in 2024, Hauser will reprise the role in a sequel series. The current title is The Dutton Ranch, and he and Kelly Reilly are both set to reprise their roles. With Hauser’s newfound popularity from the hit neo-Western series, he has other projects on the horizon as well.

Matthew McConaughey, who almost starred in a Yellowstone spinoff of his own, is returning to television for a series regular role for the first time in over a decade. After his critically lauded role in True Detective season 1, McConaughey will be reuniting with the show’s creator, Nic Pizzolatto, on a new project.

Cole Hauser + Matthew McConaughey Team for New Netflix Show

Cole Hauser was recently added to the TV series, which is currently set to premiere on Netflix. There aren’t many plot details available for the show just yet, aside from the fact that it’s going to be about brothers, leading to the assumption that McConaughey and Hauser will be playing brothers.

The two actors have been friends for decades, having starred together in the classic film Dazed and Confused back in 1993. This was Matthew McConaughey’s first movie, making it all the more exciting to see them reuniting for a new project. This could also be one of the biggest roles of Hauser’s career.

Listen, I’m all for Taylor Sheridan making Yellowstone into a franchise with spinoffs and everything, but I also think we’ve gotten to see so much of Rip over the past seven years that it’d be more exciting to see Cole Hauser taking on a different character.

He’s been working in the industry for decades and played prominent roles in some of my favorite films, but the Western series has evidently been his strongest work yet, leading to an appreciation for his work that wasn’t there before. He could easily do this forever, but that doesn’t mean he should.

When an actor reaches the peak of their popularity, the most exciting thing they can do is branch out and try something new and more challenging. True Detective season 1 is proof that this could be an even more compelling character for Hauser to tackle than Rip, and he’s still doing the Yellowstone show at the same time.
