Yellowstone spinoff The Madison is poised for a season 2 renewal before the first season even premieres, showing an early sign of confidence in the series. Taylor Sheridan’s ever-expanding Paramount empire will continue to grow with numerous Yellowstone spinoffs, and The Madison is slated to be first up. Michelle Pfeiffer will lead the series, which will follow a prominent New York family that moves to Montana.
Now, before The Madison even premieres, the series is set to be renewed for a second season, per Deadline. At a press event for Paramount, which is in the middle a major merger, top brass had nothing but praise for Sheridan, who they made clear is the foundation of Paramount+’s streaming output. The new season will film, at least in part, at Sheridan’s massive production hub in Texas.
Of Sheridan, execs like Cindy Holland, Paramount’s Chair of Direct-to-Consumer, say, “On Paramount+ today, we have a really great foundation, which is the Taylor Sheridan universe.” Meanwhile, Paramount CEO David Ellison says Sheridan is “a singular genius with a perfect track record.”
What This Means For The Madison & Taylor Sheridan
An early renewal for The Madison certainly supports claims that Sheridan’s television universe is Paramount’s most successful streaming venture. Though flagship series Yellowstone has now ended, the series has continued in various forms, like interconnected spinoffs 1883 and 1923 that have already aired. The Madison isn’t the only one in the works, though.
There are at least four more in development, with a secret fifth Yellowstone spinoff seemingly in the cards, too. As for The Madison, though, it’s no surprise that Paramount is confident in the series. It presents a new opportunity for the franchise, highlighting a fish-out-of-water concept as city slickers move to the rural state. It’s also led by a star-studded cast, with Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, Amiah Miller, and more set to support Pfeiffer.
Our Take On The Madison’s Early Season 2 Renewal
The Sheridan train is showing no signs of slowing down, with the TV mogul’s Paramount deal extended through 2028. The Madison might be the most exciting series to be in development, though, mainly because of Pfeiffer’s involvement. Any chance to see the actress on screen is a treat, so an extended stay with her in the hills of Montana is an enticing prospect.
Now, that will continue beyond the first season order that is already slated to premiere sometime soon. The renewal is also a sign that Paramount is confident in the series. Sheridan isn’t bulletproof after all. In Deadline’s report, it was also revealed that Lioness, another Sheridan show, has been renewed for season 3, nine months after season 2 concluded.
To renew The Madison so early indicates that Paramount execs are liking what they see from early cuts of the upcoming episodes. Though much of the series remains shrouded in secrecy, all signs point to the show being another big hit.
