“Season 14 Premiere Firestorm: Stella’s Pregnancy, Pascal’s Command, and New Blood at Firehouse 51”

Chicago Fire season 14 premieres Wednesday, October 1 on NBC, and fans are already counting the days. Season 13 ended with big exits, shocking twists, and a game-changing pregnancy reveal — but there’s plenty of room for fresh energy as Firehouse 51 moves forward. Here are seven key changes the show should make to keep things blazing hot in its fourteenth year.

Chicago Fire,' 'Blue Bloods': 7-Day TV Ratings, Oct. 3-9 2022

1. Rekindle the Firehouse Family Feel

Stellaride’s adoption journey and Stella’s pregnancy reveal were heartfelt, but much of last season kept them away from the team. Season 14 needs to bring Severide and Kidd’s storylines back into the mix at Firehouse 51, where the show’s true magic — found family — has always thrived.

2. Give Chief Pascal His Moment

With Boden promoted, Dom Pascal stepped in and slowly earned respect. Season 14 should lean into that growth, showing how Pascal cements his leadership while deepening his bond with Severide, Kidd, and the rest of 51.

3. Keep Sam Carver in the ConversationChicago Fire, P.D. and Med First Look Includes a Pregnancy Reveal (Exclusive)

Jake Lockett’s exit as Carver was bittersweet, especially after his confession to Violet. Even if he’s off in Denver, fans would appreciate check-ins and updates — leaving the door open for a potential return.

4. Let Violet Process Her Losses

Violet has faced heartbreak after heartbreak, from Evan Hawkins’ death to saying goodbye to Gallo, Brett, and now Ritter. Instead of rushing her into new romance, season 14 should allow Violet to grieve, grow, and maybe step into a stronger leadership role.

5. Give Darren Ritter the Exit He Deserves

Daniel Kyri’s Ritter was groundbreaking as 51’s first Black queer firefighter, but often sidelined. His early-season departure must honor his impact, offering a storyline that feels worthy of the character and the actor.

6. Refocus Hermann’s Role

After deciding not to take the Captain’s test, Hermann recommitted to being in the field. Season 14 should embrace this version of Hermann — fun, fiery, and full of wisdom to pass down to the next generation.

7. Let Mouch Step Up

Hermann stepping back leaves Mouch a chance to shine. Watching him chase the Lieutenant’s role would not only be inspiring but also show that Firehouse 51 values experience as much as youth.

Final Thoughts

Chicago Fire thrives when it balances personal arcs with the pulse-pounding teamwork of Firehouse 51. Season 14 has all the ingredients: new leadership, big changes for Stellaride, heartfelt goodbyes, and exciting opportunities for underused characters. If the writers can weave it all together, this could be one of the strongest seasons yet.
