Since its premiere in 2018, Yellowstone has been a breakout hit for the Paramount Network and one of the most popular shows on TV.
Taylor Sheridan’s modern Western also revitalized Kevin Costner’s career by placing him in the lead as John Dutton, the patriarch of the
Dutton family, who owns the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, one of the largest ranches in Montana.
Yellowstone ended its five-season run in December 2024. Due to the show’s immense popularity, several spinoffs have aired, with more in development. This begs the question: Will there be a Yellowstone season 6? Will Sheridan’s landmark show continue on for a sixth season? Here’s everything we know about Yellowstone season 6.
Until August 2024, the remaining episodes of Yellowstone season 5 were supposed to wrap up the series. However, it sounds like Paramount Network isn’t willing to let its most popular show go quietly. Deadline is reporting that negotiations are underway with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser to co-headline a sixth season of Yellowstone. Reilly portrays Beth Dutton, and Hauser portrays her husband, Rip Wheeler.
Ahead of the series finale of Yellowstone, word broke on Deadline that Reilly and Hauser have signed on for a new Yellowstone spinoff series rather than continuing the original show with a sixth season.
Sort of. The spinoff will follow Beth and Rip after the season 5 finale, so it will keep the spirit of Yellowstone alive. However, the spinoff will receive a new name instead of becoming Yellowstone season 6.
Per Country Living, filming for the spinoff is reportedly underway in Ferris, Texas. The show will not be called Rio Palo. The show has reportedly been filming under that name, but it will not be the final title. Hauser also said the show will not be titled Dutton Ranch.
